Descendants of Caribbean people and Africans who escaped from the slave trade, the Garifuna people of Belize have a long and distinctive cultural heritage. Filmmakers Andrea E. Leland and Kathy L. Berger worked with anthropologists, Garifuna tradition be arers and cultural activists to create this study of their history, language, food, music, dance, and beliefs.
