In 1998 a performing arts festival or favia faka-Tonga was held for the birthday of King Taufa`ahau Tupou IV of the kingdom of Tonga. This celebration of Polynesian culture features performances of the lakalaka, the ma`ulu`ulu, the tau`olunga and the kai lao.
