IDEA Service Obligation

Project Mosaic offers stipend support to eligible candidates subject to the requirements for a service obligation under IDEA—20 USC §1473(h).

Terms and conditions include working with students on the autism spectrum in special education or a related field for two years upon successful completion of the program.

All candidates eligible for a stipend will be given a form notifying them of the service obligation. Upon acceptance into the program, they will be asked to sign and submit the form to Project Mosaic faculty, which will serve as a contract to fulfill the service obligation.

Stipend Support

Eligible candidates will also be provided with an application for the stipend. They will be asked to complete and submit the form to Project Mosaic faculty.

Applications will be reviewed by the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) in conjunction with the financial aid office at the university.

*Note: Students receiving other forms of scholarship or financial assistance from the university need to check on their status with the financial aid office to make sure there is no conflict with receiving the Project Mosaic stipend

Once approved, stipends will be dispursed no later than the beginning of the second semester of the program.

Graduate Placement and Follow-up
To fulfill the service obligation, graduate placement and follow-up will be monitored.

As candidates complete the program, they will be asked to provide information on where they will be working.

An annual survey of all graduates will be conducted for two years after graduation. Graduates will be asked to provide employment and program information.
