Admission to Program
*In an effort to meet the goals of Project Mosaic, priority admission will be given to eligible candidates seeking the Autism Spectrum Certificate in combination with the
Clear Level II Education Specialist credential (K-12) and Master of Arts in Special Education, respectively.
Preconditions
Applicants are required to meet standards for a master's degree program in special education or provide evidence of an advanced graduate training degree in special education or a related field
Applicants who wish to concurrently pursue the Professional Level II Education Specialist Credential with the Autism Spectrum Certificate and/or Master of Arts degree must complete all Level I coursework prior to certificate coursework
Applicants must complete or have completed a Department of Special Education application, which includes the following:
  • Demonstrate a minimum 3.0 GPA for admission
  • Two current professional letters of reference
  • Current resume
  • Statement of purpose documenting interest in the program and any relevant experience
An interview with program faculty may be included upon request
Application Procedures
Continuing Students
(Matriculated M.A. degree, and attending any program area in special education)

Submit to Department of Special Education Office (BH 156)

  1. Statement of purpose documenting interest in Autism program and relevant experience
  2. Unofficial SFSU transcript (download from MySFSU)
New Students
Complete the following by the application deadlines
(March 15 for Fall / October 15 for Spring)
  1. CSUMentor application and
  2. Department of Special Education application

**Candidates accepted into the program will be notified of a mandatory Orientation meeting at the end of the Spring semester prior to Fall admission.
