About Project Mosaic

Abstract

Project Mosaic: Preparing Highly Qualified Educators to Meet the Unique Needs of Students with Autism in Diverse Settings
Project Mosaic is supported, in part, by a personnel preparation grant from the United States Department of Education—Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) (#H325K060211). The project supports the establishment of a graduate program at San Francisco State University to address the growing need for qualified educators to serve learners on the autism spectrum representing diverse ethnic, cultural and linguistic groups. Partnering with local schools, clinics and community programs, the project will recruit, prepare and graduate 80 candidates over a 4-year-period. Through specialized courses linked to highly relevant, supervised field experiences, candidates receive preparation in research-based knowledge and evidence-based practices for working effectively with students on the autism spectrum in diverse settings. Project evaluations focus on project activities, candidate competencies and associated outcomes for the students with autism.
