Scholarships

Classes of the 1960s Endowed Scholarship Fund (for an undergraduate student, including international and incoming freshman)

This is a $1,000 scholarship endowed by an alumnae, Ms. Barbara E. Lekisch, who attended SF State University in the mid-1960s and is deeply sensitive to the hardships caused by escalating tuition costs for current SF State students. It will be awarded to an SF State student with full-time undergraduate status (12 units or more) and a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5. Applicants must have at least one semester remaining before graduation.

Dr. Leslie and Phyllis Wong Scholarship Endowment (for an undergraduate student, including international, incoming freshmen, and a graduate students)

This is a $1,500 scholarship endowed by Dr. Leslie and Phyllis Wong who know well the importance of an urban university and have a special understanding of the way in which state budgets impact the lives of those students who rely on financial assistance to pay tuition and complete their studies. This scholarship will be awarded to an SF State student with full-time status as an undergraduate student or graduate student, including international and incoming freshmen students.

Dr. Samuel and Betty Elkind Alumni Scholarship (for graduate and undergraduate Theater Arts student):
This is an annual $1,500 memorial scholarship established in 2002 by the family and friends of Dr. Samuel Elkind, a long-time member of the Alumni Association’s Board of Directors, and a beloved Theater Arts Professor at SF State.  It is to be awarded for the fall semester to a graduate or undergraduate student of Theater Arts.  Applicants are required to have full-time undergraduate status (12 units or more) or full-time graduate status (8 units or more) in the fall of 2013, and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25.

Arthur Bazell Scholarship (for a senior or graduate student who is a single parent):
This is a $1,500 scholarship endowed by an anonymous donor in memory of an SF State counselor.  It is awarded to an SF State student who will be a senior or graduate student in the 2013 fall  semester with at least 6 units, and who is a single parent.  Preference may be given to those whose child is enrolled in the A. S. I. Early childhood Education Center.

Scholarships for Graduate Students:
The Alumni Scholarship Association will grant scholarships of $1,500 each to students who will have SF State Graduate status in the fall of 2013.  Applicants are required to have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25, and must be enrolled full-time (8 units or more) for the fall 2013 semester. Scholarships are merit and need based.

Scholarships for Seniors:
The Alumni Scholarship Association will grant scholarships of $1,500 each to SF State students who will have full-time Senior status in the fall of 2013.  Applicants are required to have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25, and must be enrolled full-time (12 units or more) for the fall 2013 semester. Scholarships are merit and need based.

Elmira Sanderson Freshmen Scholarship:
The Alumni Scholarship Association will award two to four $1,500 scholarships to incoming freshmen who graduate from a San Francisco Public High School.  They are based upon merit and need.

The Louie Loy and Leong Shee Memorial Scholarship was established to help EOP students who have faced hardship and adversity and wish to complete an undergraduate education. The purpose of this scholarship is to help EOP students understand what it means to struggle to gain an education for the benefit of themselves, their family and community. The scholarship is available to entering or continuing San Francisco State University EOP students until they receive their undergraduate degree or for a maximum of five years whichever comes first. Recipients also receive a copy of My Father's Rice Bowl: The Story of Louie Loy. Application not yet available. Please revisit this site periodically for updates.
