Scholarships

 

Classes of the 1960s Endowed Scholarship Fund

This is a $1,000 scholarship endowed by alumnae who attended SF State University in the mid-1960s and is deeply sensitive to the hardships caused by escalating tuition costs for current SF State students. It will be awarded to an SF State student with full-time undergraduate status (12 units or more) and a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5. Applicants must have at least one semester remaining before graduation.

Due Date: Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 5 p.m.

Amount Awarded: $1,000

Who's Eligible: A full-time undergraduate student, including international and incoming freshman, with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5

Dr. Leslie and Phyllis Wong Scholarship Endowment

This is a $1,500 scholarship endowed by Dr. Leslie and Phyllis Wong who know well the importance of an urban university and have a special understanding of the way in which state budgets impact the lives of those students who rely on financial assistance to pay tuition and complete their studies. This scholarship will be awarded to SF State students with full-time status as undergraduate, including international and incoming freshmen students.

Dr. Samuel and Betty Elkind Alumni Scholarship

This is an annual $1,500 memorial scholarship established in 2002 by the family and friends of Dr. Samuel Elkind, a long-time member of the Alumni Association’s Board of Directors, and a beloved Theater Arts Professor at SF State.  It is to be awarded for the fall semester to a graduate or undergraduate student of Theater Arts.  Applicants are required to have full-time undergraduate status (12 units or more) or full-time graduate status (8 units or more) in the fall of 2014, and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25.

Who's Eligible: Graduate and undergraduate Theater Arts students with full-time status and a minimum cumilative grade point average of 3.25

Arthur Bazell Special Child-Care Scholarship

This is a $1,500 scholarship endowed by an anonymous donor in memory of an SF State counselor.  It is awarded to an SF State student who will be a senior or graduate student in the 2014 fall  semester with at least 6 units, and who is a single parent.  Preference may be given to those whose child is enrolled in the A. S. I. Early childhood Education Center.

Due Date: Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 5 p.m.

Graduate Scholarship

The Alumni Scholarship Association will grant scholarships of $1,000 each to students who will have SF State graduate status in the fall of 2014.  Applicants are required to have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25, and must be enrolled full-time (8 units or more) for the fall 2014 semester. Scholarships are merit and need based.

Senior Scholarship

The Alumni Scholarship Association will grant scholarships of $1,000 each to SF State students who will have full-time senior status in the fall of 2014.  Applicants are required to have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25, and must be enrolled full-time (12 units or more) for the fall 2014 semester. Scholarships are merit and need based.

Elmira Sanderson Freshman Scholarship

The Alumni Scholarship Association will award two to four $1,500 scholarships to incoming freshmen who graduate from a San Francisco Public High School.  They are based upon merit and need.

Due Date: Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 5 p.m., If mailing an application, submissions must be postmarked by or on Thursday, April 2, 2015

Dilena Takeyama Center Scholarship

The Dilena Takeyama Center Scholarship is intended to support San Francisco State University students who plan to utilize their studies and future careers in ways that promote improved relationships between the United States and Japan. Two scholarships in the amount of $8,000 for each student from SF State partner institutions/organizations in Japan to attend San Francisco State University. An additional two scholarships in the amount of $3,500 for each SF State student to participate in year-long CSU/SF State certified Study Abroad institution (California State University International Programs or SF State Bilateral Exchanges) in Japan.  See applications for more details.

Taiwan Student Scholarship Endowment

A scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded for a student from Taiwan holding a F-1 Visa with Republic of China or Taiwan passport. Open to any major, student must be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program for the fall 2014 semester.

Due Date:Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 5 p.m.

Amount Awarded: $1,000

Who's Eligible: A student from Taiwan holding a F-1 Visa with Republic of China or Taiwan passport.
