The San Francisco State University Alumni Association proudly
offers the following scholarships for 2009:
Dr. Samuel and Betty Elkind Alumni Scholarship (for a Senior Theater Arts Major):
This is an annual $1,500 memorial scholarship established in 2002 by the family and friends of Dr. Samuel Elkind, a long-time member of the Alumni Association’s Board of Directors, and a beloved Theater Arts Professor at S.F.S.U. It is to be awarded for the fall semester of a Theater Arts major. Applicants are required to have S.F.S.U. senior, full-time status (12 units or more) in the fall of 2009, and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25. [ Click here for application]
Arthur Bazell Scholarship (for a senior or graduate student who is a single parent):
This is a $1,000 scholarship endowed by an anonymous donor in memory of an S.F.S.U. counselor. It is awarded to an S.F.S.U. student who will be a senior or graduate student in the fall semester with at least 6 units, and who is a single parent. Preference may be given to those whose child is enrolled in the A. S. I. Early childhood Education Center. [Click here for application]
Scholarships for Graduate Students:
The Alumni Scholarship Association will grant scholarships of $1,000 each to students who will have S.F.S.U. Graduate status in the fall of 2009. Applicants are required to have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25, and must be enrolled full-time (8 units or more) for the fall 2009 semester. Scholarships are merit and need based.

Scholarships for Seniors:
The Alumni Scholarship Association will grant scholarships of $1,000 each to S.F.S.U. students who will have full-time Senior status in the fall of 2009. Applicants are required to have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25, and must be enrolled full-time (12 units or more) for the fall 2009 semester. Scholarships are merit and need based. Alum-of-the-year Scholarship:
One meritorious student applying for the Graduate or Senior Scholarship will be awarded a $2,000 scholarship for fall 2009 named for the 2009 Alum-of-the-Year.
Elmira Sanderson Freshmen Scholarship:
The Alumni Scholarship Association will award two to four $1,000 scholarships to incoming freshmen who graduate from a San Francisco Public High School. They are based upon merit and need. [ Click here for application]
Process:
Check on links above to access forms. They are due Thursday, April 2, 2009, in Room 153 of the Admin. Bldg. The Alumni Committee selects winners in May. Winners are honored in October at the Alumni’s scholarship event and receive their scholarships shortly thereafter.
