Friday TOEFL Preparation Course
- Do you want to improve your TOEFL score?
- Do you want to learn about the Internet-Based TOEFL (iBT)?
- Do you want to learn skills and strategies for the Paper-Based TOEFL (PBT)?
- Do you want to another chance to take the Paper-Based TOEFL?
Come to ALIs Friday TOEFL class, open to students in all levels. (Level 42-48 & Gateway). Classes will be split according to level and type of TOEFL:
- Internet-Based TOEFL class (46, 48, & Gateway)
- Paper-Based TOEFL class (42-44) & (46, 48, & Gateway)
Please Note: The Paper-Based TOEFL test will be given to all students in both the iBT and PBT classes.
Spring 2010 Dates
Friday, February 26 - Friday, April 30, 2010 (No Class on April 2).
The class list will be posted on the ALI front door on Thursday, February 25.

Cost
$390.00* (NON-REFUNDABLE)

*Textbooks
You will need to buy one of the following textbooks:
iBT Textbook:
- Longman Preparation Course for the TOEFL Test Next Generation iBT, 2nd edition, by Deborah Phillips (Available at the SF State Bookstore)
PBT Textbooks:
- (Levels 42-44) Longman Introductory Course for the TOEFL Test, (Paper-Based TOEFL) with answer key, by Deborah Phillips (GREEN BOOK)
- (Levels 46-48) Longman Preparation Course for the TOEFL Test, (Paper-Based TOEFL) with answer key, by Deborah Phillips (RED BOOK)
Registration
Two ways to register:
1. Sign up for the class at the ALI office (HUM 101)
2. Register for the class online and pay tuition at the Bursar’s office.
(“How to register and pay” instructions will be given when you sign up for the class.)

Friday GMAT Preparation Course
The GMAT (Graduate Management Admissions Test) is required for master's degree programs in business (MBA). Only students planning to apply to MBA programs or other programs requiring GMAT should take this class. This course is designed for students who need to become familiar with the GMAT in order to achieve high scores.
Spring 2010 Dates
Friday, February 26 - Friday, April 23, 2010 (No Class on Friday, April 2)
Tuition
$495.00 (NON-REFUNDABLE)
Hours
- 32 total hours of expert GMAT instruction
- Class meets for four hours Friday mornings from 9am - 1pm
Bonus
Paper-Based TOEFL test will be given to all GMAT students on Friday, April 30, 2010.
Teacher
Our GMAT teacher holds a master's degree in English, and is highly skilled and experienced at training ESL students for success on this test.
Who should take this course?
- If you are an ALI student, you must be in the high intermediate and advanced level classes (46, 48 and Gateway).
- If you are not an ALI student, you must have a paper based TOEFL score of 475 or more, or an iBT score of 53 or more, or the equivalent.
- The class covers only the verbal and analytical writing sections of the testno math. Students who want to focus on math should seek a different course.
Registration
Sign up and pay tuition at the ALI office (HUM 101) as soon as possible.
Deadline
Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at 4pm.
Payment
We accept personal checks with name and address imprinted by the bank, cashier's checks, or money orders (no cash, credit cards, or traveler's checks) made payable to "SF STATE-CEL/ALI."
Please Note
- The ALI may cancel this class if not enough students sign up to take it
- Non-ALI students may take this class, but the ALI cannot issue an I-20 for this course. Therefore, any non-ALI students must already have their own visas or green cards, etc.
