Orientation Schedule
New Students - First Week Schedule - Spring 2010
Before February 10:
- Pay Tuition: You must have paid $3690 tuition on-line or at the bursar’s by this
date or you will not receive your class schedule nor be allowed to attend classes.
See How to Register & Pay for instructions. - Buy Health Insurance: (F-1 students only) You must buy health insurance by this date. See Insurance for instructions on how to enroll online. If you do not have insurance, you will not receive your class schedule nor be allowed to attend classes.
February 10, Wednesday:
- Orientation Day: Report to the ALI office (HUM 101) at 8:45am.
February 11, Thursday:
- Registration Day: Report to American Language Institute (HUM 101) between the
hours of 9am and 11am. - Bring Immigration Documents: Please bring all your I-20s from schools you have
attended before, your current ALI I-20, passport, and I-94 card. - Turn in Student Data Sheet: The student data sheet must be in our
office by this day or you will not receive your class schedule nor be allowed to attend

February 12, Friday:
- ALI TOEFL exam will be given. The exact time and location of the TOEFL exam will be given to you at Orientation.
February 15, Monday:
- ALI Activity: Bay Cruise
February 16, Tuesday:
- Orientation II: The exact time and location of Orientation II will be announced at Orientation.
- Class Schedule Pick-Up Day: You will pick-up your class schedule, TOEFL score,
and book list. The time and location will be announced at Orientation.
February 17, Wednesday:
- First day of class.
No late arrivals: Students who have applied to the current semester and arrive later than February 17 will not be accepted into the program unless they have called the ALI Admissions office and made prior arrangements.

- ALI TOEFL exam will be given. The exact time and location of the TOEFL exam
will be given to you at Orientation.

Gateway Students - Important Dates - Spring 2010
Before January 21:

$2980 for tuition online or at the bursar’s
by this date or you will not receive your class schedule nor be allowed to attend

January 21, Thursday:
- Gateway Registration Day: 10am-12 noon, HUM 101
If you left the country during break, report to American Language Institute
(HUM 101). Bring all your immigration documents (I-20, passport, and I-94
card). If you have not paid tuition, bought health insurance, or turned in your
student data sheet, report to the ALI office.
January 21, Thursday:
- Gateway Class Begins: 1:10-3:00, room to be determined
January 25, Monday:
- SF State Classes Begin
February 12, Friday:
- ALI TOEFL exam will be given.
February 17, Wednesday:
- Mini-Course Selection
February 23, Tuesday:
- ALI Mini-Courses Begin
