The Degree Audit Report
About Your Degree Audit Report (DARS)
The Degree Audit Report (DARS) is SFSU's evaluation of your SFSU degree requirements. For certain transfer students, DARS will also show your transfer coursework. SFSU will create a DARS only if we have received official transcripts from the institutions you have attended. You will receive a transfer DARS if you transferred from a DARS school (see list).
If you transfer from a non-DARS school, then you will receive an ASE (Advanced Standing Evaluation) instead of a transfer DARS. For example, if you transfer from City College of San Francisco (DARS school) and from UC Berkley, you will receive a DARS for the City College work and an ASE for the UCB work.
Why does DARS say one thing and my ASE says another?
Your DARS will not show any coursework for the schools it is not programmed for. So you have to use the ASE in conjunction with the DARS. If the ASE says a requirement is met, then probably DARS will say it isn't met. So don't panic! As long as either the ASE or the DARS says met, you have met the requirement.
When will I receive my transfer DARS if I am a new student?
Your DARS will come to you in your first semester of transfer. But if you register in advance and attend New Student Orientation, you will receive your DARS at your Orientation.
How Do I read DARS?
If you are a native student, then all your SFSU classes will be on DARS showing requirements met. Segment I is the first set of requirements. If you see a green check or okay next to Segment I, it means all requirements are met within in Segment I. If it says NO or a red X, then there are 1 or more deficiencies. Each deficiency is indicated with a minus sign ( - ) while a plus sign (+ ) means that that a particular requirement is met. Remember, DARS will not show in progress courses as a + until you pass them and your grade is recorded.

When can I get a new DARS?
An updated DARS can be requested from the Registrar’s Office in the Student Services Center each semester. A printout costs $1.00. Or you can get your DARS online for free off of the mysfsu website.
What if I think there is a mistake on my DARS?
If there is a problem with your DARS, first contact a GE advisor to discuss the possible error. If there is a correction which needs to be made, you can call the DARS hotline at 415-338-6132 during business hours.
Segment III and my DARS... how can I get my cluster evaluated by DARS
If you declare your cluster, then DARS will show you your progress towards completion of that cluster. Go online and declare your cluster at the mysfsu website. Remember, DARS will not evaluate any cluster classes taken before the semester of junior standing. Those classes do not qualify for Segment III, so don't begin a cluster until the semester you will earn 60 or more units.
