Reasons for attending a Transfer Orientation
SFSU New Transfer Student Orientation is a must for your success. We want to welcome you, share our University, and give you an opportunity to learn the information needed to get you off to a good academic start.
Transfers who pre-register for orientation, pay orientation fees and university fees 3 weeks prior to Orientation will receive an official evaluation of their transfer courses. In addition, transfers who attend will be allowed to register EARLY for classes!
Transfers who attend orientation will register before other transfer students who do not attend. Therefore, we urge you to make every effort to attend this important event at San Francisco State.
Transfer students who participate in an Orientation Program are better prepared, encounter fewer problems, and generally have a very positive feeling about their experiences at San Francisco State.
Plan to join us!
Advising and Class Registration help at Orientation
You will receive advising and assistance in preparing your schedule for first semester.
Orientation includes an in-depth workshop on graduation requirements for all students. Counselors and peer advisors will assist you with major course selections as well.
Only transfers who have attended and completed orientation will be allowed to register early for classes. To be able to register for classes on your Orientation date, you MUST do the following:
- Pre-pay your University tuition. We recommend you make
this payment at least one week prior to your Orientation date. For
payment amount and options, please see: http://www.sfsu.edu/~advising/fees.htm
Note: If you have a financial aid deferment, you will NOT need to pay university tuition before Orientation. - Have proof of immunizations on file (MMR). You may also bring immunization records to Orientation. For information about immunizations, see: http://www.sfsu.edu/~shs/Immunizations/required.html
- Have official transcripts on file with SF State Admissions at least 3 weeks in advance so that you may receive an early transfer evaluation of your coursework. To check transcript status, see: http://www.sfsu.edu/admit
Transfer students who attend and complete the Orientation process will register for a partial schedule, up to 8 units, on the day of their Orientation session!
