When Do I Pay My University Tuition?

In order to register for fall classes at Orientation, you must pay your Tuition in advance.

You may pay tuition soon after registering for Orientation, after November 14th. Please refer to the Bursars website for when you can start to pay.

  1. You want to pay your University tuition 5 working days before your Orientation date.
  2. Bursar's Office will accept payments by mail; a check, certified funds, or money order.
  3. Credit card payments may be made online. See directions on the next page.

How Do I Pay My University Tuition?

So, how do you pay? Cash, Credit Card, Check?

Here's how: If you have accepted any sort of financial aid on the Financial Aid portal or you have scholarships channeled through SF State financial aid please look at the following:

Financial Aid Recipients

  1. To check on your Financial Aid status you can check your SFSU portal at https://inside.sfsu.edu/portal . On this site you will enter your SF State ID, then your SF State password. Once you are logged in click on MyFinaid to view and accept your awards.
  2. You may log onto MySFSU and select the"Gator Reg" button. It will tell you if you have a fee deferrment on file.

    Veteran's Benefits - if you are receiving a Tuition waiver or reduced Tuition, make sure your certificatioin paperwork is received by the Registrar's office. Questions can be directed to Station 3 at One Stop in the Student Services Building. Take care of this right away - this is not an instant process!

Other Methods of Payment by Mail or Web:

  1. NEVER MAIL CASH! If you wish to pay with cash, go to the Bursar's Office in the ADM building or at the Student Services Building. Keep the receipt! Always keep your receipt with you when you come to orientation.
  2. Personal Check - This could be yours or your family member's. Make your check payable to SFSU Bursar. Include your name, student ID number, current address, and phone number on the face of the check. Mail payment to SFSU Bursar's, 1600 Holloway Ave., San Francisco, CA 94132.
  3. Cashier's check or Money Order - Make the check payable to SFSU Bursar. Include your name, student ID number, current address, and phone number on the face of the check. Mail payment to the University address c/o SFSU Bursar's, 1600 Holloway Ave., San Francisco, CA 94132.
  4. Credit Card payment - This can be made on the web. You may use American Express, MasterCard or Discover to pay your fees. No VISA accepted. Sorry!
  5. Here is the website link for online payments. Print the confirmation page when you make your payment. Be careful! Once you have paid your Tuition online, log off. Check your financial statement on MySFSU if the payment went through.
  6. Installment Plan - You can divide your payment into 3 unequal installments. See Bursar's website for the forms and instructions. Choose resident or non-resident Installment plan form.
