Advanced Placement Math and English tests. What do they mean?

I have college level math and/or English completed with scores of 3, 4, or 5 on the AP tests.

ELM & EPT Exempt

I am exempt from both the ELM (Entry Level Math) test and EPT English Placement tests.

You selected this because:

  1. Your SAT I verbal score was 500 or higher, and
  2. your SAT I math score was 550 or higher, or SAT II Math level 1 or 2 score of 550 or higher
  3. your ACT math was 23 or higher and verbal was 22 or higher.
  4. your EAP results show Exempt.

If this is so and SFSU has received your SAT I/ACT scores, then you qualify to take either of the following in Spring 2012, or Fall 2012:

  1. for your English, take ENG 114 (3 units) - Freshman Composition (see course description)
  2. for your math, take a Quantitative Reasoning (3 units) - GE course - see choices

Remember - if SFSU does not have your SAT or ACT scores which exempt you, bring a copy of your scores to Orientation. EAP conditional exempt does not mean you are exempt now. Contact us to see if you need to take the ELM.

Why do I say either in Spring 2012 or Fall 2012?

First, you only take classes for one semester, so you can do it in either your first or second semester. Secondly, you have class regisration priority for only these 2 semesters, so do these high-demand class now or next semester.
