Registration
No on-line registration for students in degree programs offered through Regular University for Summer 2012. Make sure you do not have any holds, pay your fees and check the Class Schedule for courses offered. Contact your department about which courses you wish to add. They will forward your add requests to the Registrar’s Office to enroll you in Summer 2012 classes.

First Day of Instruction:

Instructors may drop students if they are absent on the first day of instruction. Contact the instructor if you will not be present the first day but still wish to attend. Being absent on the first day does not automatically drop you from a class. It is ultimately the student's sole responsibility to add and drop classes before the posted deadlines.

Adding Classes with Permit Numbers:

Once classes begin, you can only add with permit numbers obtained from the instructor. To add a class, get your Perrmit Number and contact the Registrar's Office at records@sfsu.edu or in person at One Stop. No online adding and dropping available for Summer 2012.

Auditing:

Students who wish to audit a class must obtain instructor permission and fill out a Waiver of College Regulations form. Bring the signed form to the Registrar's Office at the One Stop Student Service Center for processing. Note: payment is due whether registering for audit or for credit.

Credit/No Credit Option:

Students may change the grading option from letter grade to CR/NC on the SF State Gateway. Note: not all classes are offered for CR/NC. Some majors require core classes to be letter graded only. See your advisor for more details.

Drop Deadline:

For Summer 2012 on-line dropping is not permitted. Contact your department or the Registrar's Office at records@sfsu.edu or in person at One Stop.

Note: You must contact the Registrar's office before 3:00pm on the drop deadline for each session in order to be dropped. If you notify the office after this deadline, you will receive a grade of "W".

Withdrawal from University Before the Drop Deadline:

Withdrawal from the University before the Drop Deadline will drop you from all classes. Use the Withdrawal Card form at and return it to the Registrar's Office at the One Stop Student Services Center. You will not receive a "W" for any class if you withdraw before the drop deadline. See Bursar's Office for possible refund options. If you drop all classes during your first semester of admissions, you will need to re-apply for admissions for the following semester.

Withdrawal from class(es) or the University after the Drop Deadline:

Withdrawal from the University (individual class(es) or semester) after the Drop Deadline must be petitioned using the Withdrawal Petition. Withdrawal from a course is permissible, only for serious and compelling reasons, by consulting the instructor and obtaining the approval of the instructor, department chair/program director, and college dean. Complete semester withdrawals will need documentation (i.e. doctor's note) and can be forwarded to the Registrar's Office without instructor/chair signatures. You will receive a "W" on your record for withdrawals.

Note: Beginning Fall 2009, an undergraduate student may withdraw from a course a maximum of two times and from no more than 18 units of course work. This does not include total semester withdrawals of all courses or classes taken in CEL (College of Extended Learning).

Withdrawal from the University (semester withdrawal only) after the Withdrawal Deadline must be petitioned using the Withdrawal Petition and must be for serious and compelling reasons. Individual withdrawals must be approved by Instructor, Chair, and Dean. Complete semester withdrawals will need documentation (i.e. doctor's note) and can be forwarded to the Registrar's Office without instructor/chair/dean signatures. If approved, you will receive a "W" on your record for withdrawals.

Official Transcripts showing current semester grades will be available on this date. Transcripts pre-ordered will be processed 5 - 10 business days after this date.
