Announcements:

Campus Closures - November 11 (Veterans Day), November 23 through 28:

Veterans Day will be observed on Wednesday, November 11. Offices hours and classes will resume the following day.

Reduced funding from the California legislature and governor has necessitated a furlough program (time and pay cut ) for San Francisco State University. As a result, the University will be closed November 23, 24, 25, 27. The Campus will observe the Thanksgiving Holiday on November 26 and have Fall '09 recess closure on November 28. The Registrar’s Office will reopen on Monday, November 30.

Graduate Students Enrollment Restriction:

Beginning Spring 2010, graduate students and second baccalaureate students may only enroll in upper division and graduate level courses before the first day of instruction. Once classes begin students may enroll in lower division classes (classes with course numbers 100 – 299), on a space available basis, and with an instructor approved permit number.

New Withdrawal Policy:

Withdrawal Policy: Beginning Fall 2009, undergraduate students may withdraw from a course a maximum of two times and from no more than 18 semester-units of course work. This does not include total semester withdrawals of all courses or classes taken in CEL (College of Extended Learning). Please refer to the Bulletin for complete information, http://www.sfsu.edu/~bulletin/current/genpol.htm.

Note: See the Fall 2009 list of closure dates for more information.

Executive Directive to Facilitate Graduation:

In light of the California Legislature’s plans to substantially cut funding to the California State University system, SF State will be forced to offer fewer sections and fewer seats for students. To help compensate for this hardship on students and to ease students’ progress toward their degrees, we have revised some of the requirements for graduation, effective immediately and retroactively. Please review the informational pdf document and ask your advisor if you have further questions about the implications of these changes for your individual situation.

Official transcripts online:

All students that have a SF State Password may now order official transcripts online through the Inside SF State Portal. After login, choose the "Services" tab on top and then "Order Transcripts". Ordering and payment instructions are provided on the website.

Update: The Registrar's Office will no longer accept faxed requests for transcripts. For further information please contact our office.

New Repeat Policy :

Starting Fall 2008 a new repeat policy will be in effect. The new course repeat policy is intended to balance unfettered and equitable access to SF State resources. It will also promote careful planning of academic schedules, facilitate student advising at pivotal academic points, and increase enrollment opportunities for all students. For complete details please go to http://www.sfsu.edu/~senate/documents/policies/F08-248.html and scroll down to "Course Repeat Policy".
