Mandatory Advising (MAP)

Students on academic probation after their first semester are placed on Mandatory Advising (MAP) and are not eligible to enroll in classes for the following semester until their status is cleared. They must meet with their major advisor, complete the Academic Standing Petition, follow the department's reinstatement process and submit the approval to the Registrar's Office. (See directions and forms)

Subject to Disqualification/Disqualification (DISQ)

Students on academic probation for two semesters with very low GPAs are placed on Disqualification (DISQ). They will not be allowed to enroll in classes for the following semester unless reinstated. Students must meet with their major advisor, complete the Academic Standing Petition, follow the department's reinstatement process and submit the approval/denial to the Registrar's Office. Students not approved for reinstatement must attend the College of Extended Learning (CEL) to make up their academic deficiencies within two semesters after being disqualified. Students must select the form which corresponds to their semester and year they were placed on (DISQ) status. (See directions and forms)

Pending Probation Lock/Probation Lock (PLOCK)

Students on academic probation for two consecutive semesters are placed on Pending PLOCK status during their third semester. Students will have their third semester to raise their SFSU and Overall GPAs to 2.0 or above. After the third semester, if the student is still on academic probation, they will be placed on PLOCK status and must attend the College of Extended Learning (CEL) to make up the academic deficiencies. Students must select the form which corresponds to their semester and year they were placed on DISQ status. (See directions and forms)
