Alex E. C. Yuen, professor of accounting, who hails from Honolulu,
Hawaii, teaches governmental and not-for-profit accounting,
managerial and financial accounting, auditing and global
accounting. His academic degrees are from the University of
New Mexico and Golden Gate University. A two year veteran
of the U.S. Army, he served at Fort Benning, Georgia and Germany.
Prof. Yuen currently serves as an active faculty advisor to the
Accounting Students' Organization (ASO) and Association
of Government Accountants( AGA) at SFSU.
His outside interests are his daughter's family, Jaguars, Triumphs,
golf, parachuting and good restaurants. He is a Certified Government
Financial Manager.
Yuen has taught at Golden Gate University, Albuequrque TVI,
University of New Mexico Extension, and University of California
Berkeley, Extension.
Prof. Yuen is a member in good standing of the AICPA, the
Hawaii Society of CPAs, the American Accounting Association
the New Mexico Society of CPAs, the California Society of
CPAs, Government Finance Officers' Association and the
Association of Govenment Accountants. Yuen holds CPA
licenses (active status) from California, Hawaii, and New Mexico.
Prof. Yuen plans to retire from SFSU teaching in 2013.
Finally Professor serves as a reviewer for the Government Finance
Officers' Association (GFOA) in its certificate of Achievement
for Excellence in Financial Report. Yuen takes part in both the
Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and Popular
Reporting programs.
