Advancement in rank is based on merit as demonstrated by teaching effectiveness, professional achievement and growth, and contributions to the campus and the community. Reviews and recommendations for the purpose of decisions related to promotion are based solely on material contained in the working personnel action file (WPAF). The WPAF contains the faculty member's materials and index, student evaluations of teaching effectiveness, and all other information provided by the faculty, students, academic administrators and others who must be identified by name.
Library Promotions Policy Librarians are evaluated for promotions according to the Promotions Policy with the exception that the criterion of teaching effectiveness is replaced by the criterion of effectiveness in library assignment, based upon the CSU Librarian Personnel Plan (FSA 78-64). Copies of the Library Promotions Policy are available from the University Librarian's Office or the Office of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development.
