San Francisco State University

Self-Study for WASC Reaccreditation

PREFACE to PART III

x

Other Areas of University Planning and Implementation

x

Part One of this self-study has focused, in its entirety, on the various ways in which San Francisco State University has attempted to implement recommendations in the six thematic areas of its strategic plan, Envisioning Our Second Century. As was indicated in the introductory chapter: "These themes were not meant to cover all aspects of university life but rather to focus on selected core areas of institutional concern. Other areas (e.g., technology, library, development) were not selected; in part, because they were already receiving appropriate university attention."

x

Part Three of the self-study will have as its focus those other areas "already receiving appropriate university attention." The chapters in this volume will attempt to demonstrate both the level of attention being devoted to these areas and how these areas also are arenas of priority institutional concern. The foci of the seven chapters will be the university Library; teacher preparation; co-curricular learning experiences; research and sponsored programs; financial planning and resource allocation; physical planning and development; and university development and advancement.
