Giving a gift

Strategic plans

"Our donation is one way of expressing how much we believe in SFSU's Romberg Tiburon Center for Environmental Studies' work and leadership. And although it may sound strange to say it, we wanted to have the joy of giving what we could while we are alive."

-- Ann Stephens, donor and volunteer

Although any time can be the right time to make a gift to San Francisco State University, for tax purposes, December 31 is the important date. As you have your taxes prepared, ask your accountant if increased giving would be helpful to your tax situation next year. A mid-year review also may be helpful.

If your employer or your spouse's employer offers a "matching grant program," your gift to SF State may be matched one-to-one or even three-to-one. Ask your personnel office about such a program. Some companies even match gifts made by retired employees or spouses.
