Maintain your Web Site

Maintaining a web page/site involves reading e-mail, deleting old files and checking syntax, links and browser compatibility. We have created the following To Do List and linked to our recommended web resources to aid in maintaining your web site:

To Do List

  1. Delete obsolete or unnecessary HTML files, documents and images in your Internet Account using FTP
  2. Read e-mail
  3. Check external links and browser compatibility
  4. Test web page on new internet browsers
  5. Check content (such as spelling errors)
  6. Check syntax and style of HTML source using WebLint

Departments and faculty can also request monthly Access Statistics.

Access Statistics
The statistics are compiled monthly to show where your visitors come from, the number of requests for each page, as well as the "busiest times" and "busiest days". Individual faculty member's access statistics are created for each account. The entire server report shows all activity on the server including individual account statistics.
