STEP 1: Obtain an Internet Account
After successfully signing up for an account, your web page address will be as follows (replace account with your SFSU Internet Account name):

The first step is to obtain an SFSU Internet Account. SFSU personal Internet Accounts are available to eligible SFSU
faculty, staff and students. University faculty accounts contain 500 MB of
storage; department accounts contain 50 MB; Student Organizations, personal staff and student accounts contain 200 MB of storage; Recognized
Student Organizations may request a 'Student
Organization web account' to publish student organization information. For eligibility information, please see the SFSU web
practices.

STEP 2: Review SFSU's Web Policy
Official University web sites must meet the minimum requirements of the SFSU Web policies listed on the checklist.
To ensure that SFSU's Web site provides clear and consistent information to the outside world, a committee representing SFSU faculty, administrators, staff, and students has developed a
Web policy.
It provides general guidelines for effective communication and efficient use of SFSU's Web site as well as for creating a positive representation of the University, while recognizing the creative diversity of campus departments and programs.
STEP 3: Familiarize yourself with web browser settings, key terms and searching the Internet
Before developing a web page you should be familiar with the different web browser settings, and be comfortable searching the Internet.
You should also be familiar with key terms like FTP, telnet, browser and server.
STEP 4: Download Web Publishing Software
