On-campus housing

The SF State Housing Community provides a home to more than 2,500 San Francisco State University students. As a resident of one of three traditional residence halls (Mary Ward and Mary Park halls, the Science and Technology Theme Community building), or four apartment complexes (the Towers and the Village at Centennial Square, University Park South and University Park North), you'll live just footsteps away from your classes and the many amenities our campus offers.

To live on campus you must be a full-time student and you must apply separately from the University admission. Housing is limited and not guaranteed so we recommend you apply as early as possible.

  • Freshmen Housing

    First-time freshmen Residence Halls
The University's two traditional residence halls are located on the southwest corner of campus near beautiful Lake Merced. Reserved for first-time freshmen, the residence halls provide an environment suited to academic and personal growth. All rooms are double occupancy and fully furnished. Showers and bathrooms are located on each wing of the floors. Residents receive free cable TV hookup and telephone. A choice of 10-, 15-, and 19-meal plans is included.

Eligibility: The residence halls are available to SF State students under the age of 19 at the time of move-in who are enrolled in at least 12 academic units.

The Science & Technology Theme Community (STTC)
Located across from the residence halls, the STTC is designed to make the transition to college life easier for first-time freshmen interested in science and technology. This small community of 100 students offers double-occupancy rooms with private bathrooms. A choice of 10-, 15-, and 19-meal plans is included. The STTC provides a "small-college experience" approach to first-year students, including a live-in graduate assistant, on-site computer lab and access to SF State faculty in the form of weekly faculty dinners and discussion sessions.

Eligibility: The STTC is available to SF State students under the age of 19 at the time of move-in who are enrolled in at least 12 academic units. Priority is given to students majoring in computer science, biology, mathematics, geosciences, chemistry, engineering or technology-related areas such as industrial arts, and information systems. Undeclared students interested in those majors are also encouraged to apply.

The Towers at Centennial Square (TCS)
Located across from the residence halls, the Towers at Centennial Square apartments offer shared one- and two-bedroom fully furnished apartments to first-year freshmen in designated Residential Learning Communities. Residents of the Towers at Centennial Square enjoy their own kitchen and bathroom, and cable TV hookup. A choice of 10-, 15-, and 19-meal plans is included. The Residential Learning Communities at the Towers bring first-year students together who have similar goals and academic interest.

Eligibility: The TCS is available to SF State students under the age of 19 at the time of move-in who are enrolled in at least 12 academic units. Residents must sign up for a Residential Learning Community.
