sports? It's easy at SF State. You have your choice of
formal intercollegiate
competition, on-campus intramurals, or
casual recreation.
Intercollegiate competition: SF State Athletics consists of 16
NCAA Division II teams, nine for women and seven for men. The
NCAA-sanctioned sports include:

Conference affiliation: For all sports except wrestling, SF State belongs to
the California Collegiate
Athletic Association (CCAA), the premier Division II conference of
the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association). SF State wrestlers compete
in the NCAA's Rocky Mountain
Athletic Conference. With SF State's
CCAA membership, the University can offer athletically based
financial aid to the student-athletes and recruits whom it works with
each year. Other CCAA members include Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State
Bakersfield, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cal State Los Angeles, Cal
State San Bernardino, Cal State Stanislaus, Chico State, Grand Canyon
University (Ariz.), Sonoma State, UC Davis, UC Riverside, and UC San
Diego (associate member).
Athletic facilities: On-campus athletic facilities include Cox Stadium (men's
and women's soccer, women's track and field), Main Gymnasium (men's and women's
basketball, men's wrestling), Maloney Field (men's baseball), and Stephenson
Field (women's softball). Also, the Gator Conditioning Center is a fitness facility
for all student-athletes.
Intramurals: Intramural
leagues,
tournaments, and special events are offered in the fall and spring
semesters. The program consists of men's, women's, and coed sports,
including basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, swimming, bowling,
ultimate frisbee, water polo, softball, badminton, tennis, and flag
football.
Recreation: Facilities are available at the noon hour and during
certain evening hours for student and faculty/staff recreational use.
