Group Campus Visitation Program

Reservations are required.

The Group Campus Visitation Program is designed for schools, organizations and community groups interested in bringing a group of students to San Francisco State University to learn more about what our university has to offer. The program consists of an information session (for high school and college students) and/or self guided campus tour.  (See below for details.)

Information sessions for high school and college students with a representative from Student Outreach Services will last approximately 45-60 minutes. The session includes general information concerning admission, majors and programs, financial aid, housing and other matters related to prospective undergraduate students.

The Self Guided Campus Tour is available for your group to tour the campus at any time. Print out the publication from  www.sfsu.edu/outreach/Self-guided_tour.pdf  and bring it to campus.  The tour begins at the Student Services building (number 1 on campus map), but feel free to start at any location you choose.  Follow the numbered campus map and read the descriptions to learn about majors, services and special features of the campus.  (Note: You will need Adobe Reader to view the brochure, please visit www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html for a free Adobe Reader download.)

Information sessions are conducted during the week and require a reservation.  Reservations are first come, first served and must be made by an adult group leader/chaperone at least 30 days in advance during the Fall and Spring semesters.  Reservations from students are not accepted.  Due to the difficulty of obtaining large classrooms on-campus, we highly recommend groups of 25 or less.  We will make every effort to accommodate your group with a reasonable, timely request, but funding, scheduling and staffing dictate what we can and cannot offer.

All visiting students and guests must respect SF State property. For students not at the college level, one chaperone is required for every ten students. Chaperones must accompany and supervise the group during the entire visit, and chaperones must assist with the flow by keeping the group together and quiet. Students are requested to remain with the chaperones throughout the duration of the campus visit and should not interfere or interrupt normal campus activities.

To request an information session (for high school and college students) during December 2009 or January 2010, click here.  After our Group Campus Visitation Coordinator receives a complete request and if we can meet your needs, you will receive a confirmation letter by email. Otherwise, our coordinator will contact you by email to discuss about other options.
