How can I obtain general information about SF State's academic programs?
The Web is the best source of information about SF State. Go to the Prospective Students Web site to get information about degrees and programs, housing, financial aid and more. Check out individual department and program Web sites for more information.
Student Outreach Services, Student Services Building (SSB) 106, has brochures for each of the University's colleges and programs. Call (415) 338-2355 for information.
The Bulletin is on sale at the University Bookstore in the Cesar Chavez Student Center and available online. The Bulletin has extensive information about SF State programs, resources, courses and policies. Call (415) 338-2092 for recorded information on how to obtain the Bulletin by mail. The College of Extended Learning, at 835 Market Street, 6th Floor, in San Francisco, offers brochures and catalogs that describe its many credit and noncredit programs. Call (415) 405-7700 for recorded information.
International visitors can call the Office of International Programs, (415) 338-1293, for information about academic programs, standards for admission, applications, costs, student visa regulations and other general information about the campus.
Can I get a campus tour?
Self-guided tour brochures may be picked up from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at Student Outreach Services, Student Services Building 106. Where can I find an ATM?
Washington Mutual ATMs are located inside the Cesar Chavez Student Center, on the main level. Bank of America and Wells Fargo ATMs are located outside the Student Center, on the north plaza near the Bookstore. CAL STATE 9 Credit Union ATMs are located between the Library and the Creative Arts building. The credit union offers services for San Francisco State employees, students, and Alumni Association members, as well as state employees and their families.
Where is the University bookstore?
The University Bookstore is on the main floor of the Cesar Chavez Student Center. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:45 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., during the academic year. The Bookstore is closed on Sunday.
The Bookstore stocks a wide selection of textbooks, bestsellers, and books of all types, as well as a wide array of SF State accessories, greetings cards, computers, software and supplies.
What food services are available on campus?
The Cesar Chavez Student Center is home to a variety of restaurants. Eateries are open Monday through Friday, most between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. The Pub, located on the lower conference level, serves beer and wine. Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday. Only a few dining options are available on Saturdays; most are closed on Sunday. Call the Student Center Information Desk, (415) 338-1112, for more information.
At the west end of campus, students and visitors can dine at the City Eats Dining Center, located behind Mary Ward and Mary Park residence halls, or Cafe in the Park, located in Mary Park Hall. City Eats is open Monday through Friday for breakfast, lunch and dinner; Saturday and Sunday for brunch and dinner. Cafe in the Park offers both late-night dining and an espresso bar.
The University's student-run, white-tablecloth restaurant, the Vista Room, located on the top floor of Burk Hall, is open for lunch; reservations are required.
Does the University have a Lost and Found?
The SF State University Police Department operates the principal Lost and Found on campus. Call (415) 338-2306 to make an appointment with the Lost and Found coordinator. You may also try the Information Desk at the Cesar Chavez Student Center, (415) 338-1112. Most campus buildings also have Lost and Found centers.
How do I report an emergency?
Report emergencies to the SF State University Police Department by dialing 911 or (415) 338-2222 on any of the yellow courtesy telephones located throughout campus. If you are off campus, call (415) 338-2222. Red phones, identified by blue lights, are located at strategic points around campus and are specifically for use during emergencies. Campus escorts are available 24 hours a day by calling (415) 338-7200. The Department of Public Safety is located on North State Drive on the west side of campus.
