WASC e-mail to faculty and staff

Note: the following e-mail was sent on 10/4/11 to all faculty and staff from President Robert A. Corrigan

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to invite your participation in the WASC Accreditation Educational Effectiveness Review (EER), the final phase of the accreditation review process that we are currently undertaking. As you may recall, I wrote to you in Spring 2008 asking for your input as we began the Capacity/Preparatory Review (CPR), the first stage of the accreditation process. Last spring we completed that stage of the review. The WASC review team that came to SF State commended us extensively and made a number of recommendations for the EER. The WASC team report, as well as the subcommittee reports and accompanying data, can be accessed at http://air.sfsu.edu/wasc/wascstage2.html. Now as we begin the final stage, I invite your participation again.

The EER, which began this fall and ends in March 2013, provides an ideal opportunity to showcase our significant efforts to improve the curriculum, foster student success, and further our institutional mission. The EER Steering Committee has created a subcommittee structure built upon existing committees of the Academic Senate, current campus initiatives, and many of the subcommittees established in the first stage of the review.

The EER subcommittees, particularly the Social Justice and Civic Engagement subcommittees, need faculty and staff participation in deliberations, analysis, and drafting recommendations for strengthening our programs. Please join me and other colleagues as we work towards the culmination of the accreditation review.

If you are interested in joining one of these subcommittees, please RSVP to the EER chair, Michelle Wolf at mawolf@sfsu.edu

Sincerely,

--Robert A. Corrigan, president
