Financial aid notification goes online

March 27, 2009 -- This spring, students have been viewing and accepting their 2009-10 financial aid award offers through the University's new online system called "MyFinAid."

All financial aid correspondence will now be sent via e-mail. Students should look for an e-mail from the Office of Student Financial Aid and follow the instructions in the message to log in to the new system, part of the Inside SF State portal.

"Efficiency is the rationale behind this move to online communication," said Barbara Hubler, director of financial aid. "Students will receive a quicker response to their financial aid application and when they get their offer they won't have the hassle of signing forms and mailing them back to us. The system will also save the University money at a time when departments are searching for innovative ways to manage within budget cuts."

The new system will save more than 50,000 mailings each academic year, reducing paper usage and saving approximately $70,000 per year on printing, postage and mailing costs.

With all financial aid communication moving online, continuing students are advised to ensure their correct e-mail address is registered on MySFSU, and check their financial aid status frequently on "MyFinAid."
