Join Gator Spirit Days festivities

February 17, 2009 -- Alumni, friends and the campus community are invited to show off their Gator pride during the University's first Spirit Days on Feb. 25 and 26. Spirit Days will include fun and festivities with a Mardi Gras theme as well a chance to support the basketball team as SF State takes on Cal Poly Pomona.

Similar to homecoming, athletic teams and supporters will take part in a Gator spirit rally across the campus on Feb 25. The carnival atmosphere will continue with a Louisiana-style Zydeco band, a Gator mask competition and a cake decorating contest involving King Cakes, a New Orleans Mardi Gras tradition.

A special invitation is extended to SF State alumni to attend an Alumni Association reception prior to the men's basketball game on Feb. 26. "We're looking forward to welcoming alumni back to campus for a chance to meet other alums, reconnect with the University and cheer on the Gators together," said Doug Hupke, director of alumni relations. The reception will also be an opportunity for alumni to hear a brief campus update and to meet men's basketball coach Bill Treseler.

-- The Alumni Association reception will take place Feb. 26 from 6 to 7 p.m. Alumni interested in attending should RSVP by Feb. 20. For more information, visit: http://www.sfsu.edu/~alumni/events.html
