iPhone on Exchange

Guide for configuring an iPhone to access SF State E-mail on Microsoft Exchange.

Prerequisites

Verify that 3G is enabled on your iPhone.  To enable 3G, do the following:

  • Go to the home screen
  • Select Settings
  • Select General
  • Select Network
  • Set Enable 3G to ON

 

Configure iPhone

If a Passcode has been set on the phone, you may be prompted to enter the passcode during configuration.

  1. On the home screen, select Settings.iPhone home screen displaying mulitple icons, including Settings icon
  2. Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.Settings menu items, including "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" menu item

  3. Select Add Account...

    "Mail, Contacts, Calendar..." Settings menu, Accounts menu group, "Add Account..." menu item

  4. Select Microsoft Exchange

    Add Account... menu listing mulitple providers, including Microsoft Exchange, mobileMe, Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, AOL, Other

  5. Enter your account information:

    1. E-mail address: (e.g., jdoe@sfsu.edu)
    2. Domain: leave blank
    3. Username: enter your e-mail address (e.g., jdoe@sfsu.edu)
    4. Password
    5. After your account information has been verified, enter email.sfsu.edu in the Server field
    6. Description:  leave blank
    7. Select Next
      Enter your Exchange account information

Syncing may take a few minutes. The iPhone will indicate when the configuration with Exchange is complete and successful. NOTE:  Sometimes the iPhone will not register the server name, so it must be entered more than once.
