How do I obtain access services for either myself or my guests?
Cox Stadium is an open arena and most public entrances are via a steep hill or bleacher stairs. Arrangements for transportation to seating on the stadium floor and other access services (e.g., sign language interpreting, wheelchair seating, etc.) can be made by contacting the Disability Programs and Resource Center. Detailed accessibility information is available at www.sfsu.edu/~dprc/commencement.html or by contacting DPRC at 415-338-6148 or email sslai@sfsu.edu
When will I receive my diploma?
At the Commencement ceremony, you will walk forward to the stage and receive a diploma cover. Your actual diploma will be sent to the address you listed on your graduation application. Those not attending the ceremony may request a diploma cover at the OneStop Student Service Center or by phone: 415-338-2787, or e-mail: records@sfsu.edu
Can my family and friends get close enough to take my photo on stage?
No, GradImages®, the official photographer for Commencement, will record the moment that you receive your diploma cover. For more information, including how to pre-register for photos and receive a discount, visit www.gradimages.com/index.cfm?action=main.preregistration
Proofs will be sent to your home and via email within five days after Commencement.
Any special instructions that my guests and I need to know?
No pets except service animals will be allowed in Cox Stadium. Also, alcoholic beverages, balloons, coolers/ice chests, banners, signs, beach balls, silly string and fireworks are not allowed at Commencement. Smoking is not permitted in or around Cox Stadium. Smoking is allowed only in designated areas on campus. See the Smoking Areas Map.
Please be advised that because the majority of guest seating in the stadium is on bleachers with steep steps, the use of baby strollers is not recommended.
Where should I meet my guests after the ceremony?
Please arrange to meet family and friends on the upper campus after the ceremony, as the movement of the crowd makes meeting within the stadium impossible. Graduates will be asked to leave the stadium by the pathway on which they entered and will end up on Centennial Drive in front of the Student Services building.
Where can I buy flowers for a new grad?
Starting at 9 a.m. on Commencement Day, vendors will sell flowers at various locations on campus and around Cox Stadium. For more information, visit www.commencementflowers.org
