Beckman Scholars Program
Scholarships are Available for Recognizing
Outstanding Undergraduate Research Students
in Chemistry & Biochemistry and the Biological Sciences
The Beckman Scholars Program provides scholarships that are designed to advancing the education, research training and personal development of select students in chemistry, biochemistry, and the biological and bio-medical sciences.
Each selected Beckman Scholar will receive an award of $19,300 and engage in research activities part-time (ten hours per week) during the academic year and full time over two summers (ten weeks each summer).
Support begins in June prior to the Junior/Senior year and is as follows:
Summer Research 1st year - 10 weeks $ 6,000
Academic Year Research - $ 4,000
Summer Research 2nd year - 10 weeks $ 6,000
Research supplies and travel allotment $ 3,300

Planned Program Activities:
Summer: Summer Research and Workshops
Academic Year: Research and Honors Colloquia Fall/Spring
Travel to a scientific meeting to share research results
Summer: Present research results at Beckman Symposium in July of 2nd Summer

The application involves multiple steps:
SEO Fellowship Application Procedure. Submit items A-E directly to SEO:
1) Applicant Profile form (Click to download)
2) A 1-2 page "Statement of Purpose" describing your career goals and interests
3) Unofficial copies of your transcript(s)
4) 3 letters of recommendation from science faculty that address:
a. Your potential for graduate study
b. Your potential for a career in basic biomedical science
