These documents will help you prepare for and respond to emergencies.

  • Emergency Procedures Handbook
The SF State Emergency Procedures Handbook gives basic guidance on how to report emergencies, responses to various types of disasters or assist persons with disabilities, First Aid Procedures and a map of University evacuation sites are also included. This publication is available from the University Police Department.
  • Injury & Illness Prevention Program
The SF State Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) serves as the umbrella for all health and safety programs. The Chemical Hygiene Plan, Hazard Communication Program, Campus Emergency Operations Plan, Building Emergency Operations Plan and other Environmental Health and Safety policies and programs are coordinated through the IIPP. Each department at SF State is required to have their own IIPP. The program covers University employees in all job classifications, including student employees, academic and administrative staff, volunteer workers and outside contractors.
  • SF State Business Continuity Plan
The San Francisco State University Business Continuity Plan (BCP) assigns accountability and responsibility in the event of a pandemic emergency as well as providing resources for key members of the University community engaged in planning and executing specific components of the Business Continuity Plan.

  • Building Emergency Procedures Plans
The Department of Public Safety has designated one Emergency Response Building Coordinator for each campus building. It is the responsibility of each campus building coordinator, in consultation with EHOS, to develop and maintain an internal emergency action plan that incorporates the overall campus plan and specifies actions employees should take in their work areas to ensure immediate and safe responses. Additionally, each supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all employees review and are familiar with the contents and operations of the emergency procedures plans. Specific emergency evacuation sites and locations of fire extinguishers and other emergency equipment should be reemphasized in one-on-one training sessions.

  • Emergency Card
This concise but informative card gives you crucial information about emergency response, preparation and contacts. It will be posted in all classrooms and offices and distributed to all staff and faculty.

  • Magnet Card
This postcard-sized magnet lists all key safety-related contact numbers. Stick it up near your phone for easy access when you need answers to safety and emergency preparedness questions.
