example: "A Day in the Life of the ISS (International Space Station)"
Host: Apple Learning
Interchange
Live: October
23rd at either 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. Eastern.
Join us as we take
a trip to the "New Star on the Horizon"-The International Space Station
(ISS). During this electronic field trip, students will meet some of the
engineers, scientists, and astronauts who have played an important role
in the development and continuing research on the ISS. Together, with a
team of scientists, students and teachers from Space Center Houston, your
classroom will be transformed into a Space Station Activity Module. Students
will also be taken behind the scenes at the Johnson Space Center. Learn
what happens before and during the time the astronauts are in Space.
The ISS is a global
undertaking of tremendous scientific and engineering magnitude. Since 1998,
16 world nations have collaborated to construct, operate, and utilize the
orbiting space laboratory. The ISS allows scientists to conduct long-term,
complex experiments not possible on Earth. Through the space-based research,
scientists hope to advance basic science dealing with fundamental physics,
gravitational biology and ecology, Earth science, and space science.
When completed in
2006, the ISS will enclose the same pressurized volume as a Boeing 747
and will house six dedicated laboratory modules with seven astronauts.
The International Space Station will include three pressurized research
laboratories, a centrifuge to provide artificial gravity for research,
and crew living quarters.

This Webcast is
on the use of multimedia with young children (Early Childhood and Elementary). We
will be focusing on the use of KidPix, a program that allows students to
create multimedia slideshows. We are also trying something new and seeing
about close captioning this WebCast.
