1) QUESTION:
If I am a student who comes from a partner institution and am eligible to participate in the exchange programs with San Francisco State University, what should I do next?
ANSWER:
Eligible students should seek out the international office or representative who handles exchanges at their home institution for further information regarding the conditions of the program, selection criteria and selection process. They should NOT contact SFSU until after they have been officially nominated by their home institution.
2) QUESTION:
But what if my international office is unable to answer my questions?
ANSWER:
You should still continue to work with your own representative at your home institution. If he or she cannot answer your questions, they can write to SFSU for the answer. That way, they will learn from the process and be better able to answer the question for the next student.
3) QUESTION:
What if I do not come from one of the partner institutions listed, but wish to come to SFSU as an exchange students and not pay tuition?
ANSWER:
Unfortunately, if you do not come from a listed partner institution, you are not eligible to be an exchange student. You are welcome, however, to apply to SFSU as a fee-paying matriculated international student. For more information regarding Admission requirements, fees, etc, contact the Office of International Programs at oip@sfsu.edu.
4) QUESTION:
What if I wish to come to SFSU as an exchange student and my school says that it is willing to establish an exchange program with SFSU to assist me?
ANSWER:
San Francisco State University takes its exchange programs very seriously. All exchange program proposals are reviewed carefully and require the full support of an academic department and College at SFSU. They clearly must benefit BOTH institutions and have the potential to attract students in both institutions for a period of several years. If your institution or university wishes to pursue the possibility of an exchange with SFSU, the appropriate authority should contact M. Yarabinec, Coordinator of International Exchange Programs at SFSU, to discuss the possibilities and for more information.
