Welcome

The Recreational Sports Program provides an opportunity for students to participate in sport activities in a structured and competitive setting and on an informal, “freeplay” drop-in basis. The goal of the Recreational Sports Program staff is to encourage fair play, equality in participation, fun, and enjoyment in a safe environment.

The Recreational Sports Program will be operating at full capacity starting September 8th. Come and enjoy Intramurals, Open Basketball, Swimming, Weight Lifting, and much more inside the Gymnasium.

Employment

The Recreational Sports Program at SF State is now hiring for the Fall 2008 semester. The positions listed are open to currently enrolled SF State students ONLY and are not Work-Study jobs. All positions are less than part-time.

As recreation staff, you will need a professional attitude, good communication and interpersonal skills, an ability to focus on the task despite distraction and boredom, and the ability to evaluate a situation and make decisions.

Application Forms

  • Student Supervisor (Positions Closed)
    Supervisors provide link between students and professional staff. Most importantly they are the lead student concerning emergencies during recreational activities. Qualified and mature applicants must feel comfortable within a recreational sport setting and be punctual, self-motivated, and problem solvers.
  • Student Fitness Instructor (Apply for this position)
    Instructors teach a variety of fitness classes. Qualified candidates will have proven experience in the class they are teaching. In the past, qualified SF State students have taught aerobics, hip-hop, yoga, dance and many other fun fitness classes. Certified Instructors are preferred.
  • Intramural (IM) Sports Official (Apply for this position)
    Persons interested in employment should submit an application no later than the first week of the semester. Experience in the sport is required for officiating.
  • Lifeguard (Positions Closed)
    For lap swims, CPR/Lifeguard Training certification required.
  • Weight Room/Gym Attendant (Positions Closed)
    Responsibilities include supervision, risk management, and maintaining cleanliness of equipment for the weight room and open gym activities. Must be dependable, friendly, and assertive. Must have some knowledge of weight room/gym etiquette.
