Bridges

  • San Francsico/Oakland Bay Bridge
    Bicycle shuttle weekday commute hours only. Call (510) 839-2882 for more information. AC Transit Line NZ from midnight until 5:00am
  • Golden Gate Bridge
    24 hour direct access on raised sidewalks on both sides. Use east sidewalk weekdays 9:00pm to 3:30pm (next day) and weekends from 9:00 to 5:00am (next day). Use west sidewalk 3:30pm to 9:00pm and weekends 5:00am to 9:00pm.
  • San Mateo/Hayward Bridge, Carquinez Bridge
    Service by Caltrans Vehicles. Call (510)332-6600.
  • Richmond/San Rafael Bridge
    Golden Gate Transit Line 40 carries bicycles between Marin and the East Bay. Call (415) 332-6600.
  • Benicia/Martinez Bridge
    Daily Shuttle Service with 14 bikes per van. Call (510)680-INFO.
  • Antioch Bridge
    Direct Access of a 5-foot highway shoulder (one way each direction).
  • Dumbarton Bridge
    Direct access of a two-way, 8-foot wide multi-use pathway on the south side of the bridge.

Ferries
Bicycles are permitted on all Bay Area Ferries. For San Francisco to Alameda, Oakland, Tiburon, and Vallejo, call (415) 546-2896, or (510)522-3300. For San Francisco to Sausalito and Larkspur call (415) 332-6600 or (415)546-2896.

 

Caltrain
Rail service provided along the SF Peninsula between San Francisco, San Jose, Gilroy, and stops in between. Bikes allowed with permit only. Call (800)660-4247.

 

Buses

  • SamTrans: Bikes are currently allowed on county-wide bus service if the bus is less than half full and there are no wheelchair on board. Bikes must be stored on the bus near the front. A bicycle map of San Mateo County is available. The SamTrans terminal is located at First and Mission in San Francisco. Call (800) 660-4287. CalTrans manages bike lockers at Park and Ride lots.   • AC Transit, Golden Gate Transit, and MUNI
    Bicycles are not permitted on buses, except for some of AC Transit's line 65 buses to Tilden Park in Berkeley, transbay NZ buses, and Golden Gate Transit's line 40 between Marin and East Bay.
