Professor of Creative Writing Toni Mirosevich's essay "The Prize Inside" was reprinted in the Sept./Oct. issue of "UTNE," in its "Gleanings" column. The essay originally appeared in "Gastronomica" (Spring 2007). Her new poem "Heathcliff" appeared in the spring/summer issue of "The Journal."

Creative Arts
Assistant Professor of Art Victor De La Rosa will present a lecture to the Texture Arts Council titled "Downloading the Textile Future" at 10 a.m. Sept. 22 at the de Young Museum in San Francisco.

An installation by Professor of Art Lewis DeSoto will be on display in "Obsession: Art and Artifacts from Sonoma County Private Collections" at Sonoma County Museum from Sept. 22 to Jan. 13. Health and Human Services
Erik Peper, professor and director of the Health Education Department’s Institute for Holistic Healing Studies, was keynote speaker at the Biofeedback Society of California Conference in San Diego, Sept. 7 – 9. His speech was titled “Tongue Piercing by a Yogi: QEEG observations and implications for pain control.”

Lecturer of Social Sciences Dean W. Manders discusses his book, "Hegemony of Common Sense: Wisdom and Mystification in Everyday Life," on the program "Labor on the Job," produced by the San Francisco Labor Video Project. Ethnic Studies
Andrew Jolivette,
assistant professor of American Indian Studies and a mixed-race studies specialist, will be the keynote speaker at LGBT pride and anti-hate events next month on the campuses of Ramapo College of New Jersey; University of Utah, Salt Lake City; and University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
