A Closer Look: Taiwan alumni get together

Nearly 60 members of the Taiwan Alumni Chapter attended a reception with President and Mrs. Robert Corrigan June 10, held at the Grand Formosa Regent Hotel in Taipei. The graduates recalled their favorite memories of SF State and expressed appreciation to Wan-Lee Cheng, who had served as advisor to the campus Taiwan Student Association when he was Professor of Design and Industry and Dean of Creative Arts at SF State. Cheng is now President of Chung Yuan Christian University, which awarded Corrigan an honorary Doctor of Design degree at its June 9 commencement ceremony, where Corrigan gave the keynote address.

Presidents Cheng and Corrigan also signed agreements to promote student, faculty and research exchanges between SF State and Chung Yuan Christian.

While in Taiwan, Corrigan also participated in a panel addressing community service learning, and signed a memorandum of understanding with Tamkang University to explore joint endeavors.
