University magazine now online

June 29, 2007

Photo of "Animated Statements," the latest SF State MagazineWhat do the animated blockbusters "Happy Feet," "Charlotte's Web," "Cars" and the newly released "Shrek the Third" have in common? The artistic talents of SF State's cinema alumni and faculty.

Check out "Animated Statements" in the latest issue of SF State Magazine, now online, for more on how cinema graduates and faculty are breathing life into such Hollywood stars as Templeton the Rat and Gloria the singing penguin -- and making impressive strides in the arena of independent animated film.

"A Way With Words" showcases the talents of the University's Forensics Team -- a true public speaking-powerhouse that has defeated Ivy League competitors. Discover how Deborah Tolman, director of SF State's Center for Research on Gender and Sexuality, is changing the way people think about teenage girls and sexuality in "A Questioning Mind". And remember the late Walter Van Tilburg Clark, who helped the University become one of the leading centers of creative writing instruction in the country, in "The Ox-Bow man at SF State."

In addition to these features, stories in the Campus Beat section offer a glimpse of exciting developments at SF State, including Albirda Rose's transformative Village Dancers program and the high-tech helping hand nursing students are receiving in their training.

The magazine also includes information on InCircle, SF State's new online community'a social networking site just for alumni.

Copies of the magazine are also available at a number of campus locations including the information desks at both the Cesar Chavez Student Center and Administration building.

The magazine's reader survey takes just a few minutes to complete and responses will be taken into consideration as the staff plans future issues.

The SF State Magazine Web site also includes an easy way to request a back issue, update an address, and send a class note or letter to the editor.
