Design of Instructional Multimedia Seminar
Prerequisites: ITEC 800, HTML Authoring skills.
This course provides instructional designers with theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the fundamental aspects of interface design for multimedia and web-based instructional, performance support, and informational projects. It focuses on interface design by examining works from the perspectives of learning psychology, graphics design, human computer interaction design, and instructional systems design. The course will begin with an overview of interface design and information architecture issues. Next, students will apply theoretical knowledge to design, develop, and evaluate an interactive educational product. Throughout the course and project process, emphasis will be placed on creating instructional products that effectively engage and support users in achieving specific performance goals. Each student will conduct research and report on a specified topic related to user-centered principles in instructional design. Each student will also work as a member of a production team in the production of an educational CD-ROM or an educational web site.
