Returning Resident Day
For current students interested living on campus for Next Fall or Spring
We are pleased to offer priority space selection to returning residents in all residential communities except the traditional residence halls Mary Park and Mary Ward. Residents interested in participating must fit the following criteria:

In good academic standing.

In good financial standing.

In good judicial standing in the Residence Community.

Returning Resident Process will begin in the month of March. Watch your sfsu email!
Who is eligible to return?
All current residents in good financial and judicial standing will be allowed to return to the residence community.
Which buildings will be available for Returning Residents?
Tower and Village at Centennial Square and University Park South.
When can I sign up?
You will receive an email in March. The email will contain the Application, the License Agreement and other documents which you will need to complete and turn in to the Housing office. Returning Residents License Agreements will not be accepted prior to the start of Returning Resident Process.
I can’t get to the Housing Business Office on Returning Resident Day. What do I do?
You may have a proxy come in for you. A proxy is a person you designate as your representative. The proxy must bring all completed and signed forms. If your proxy doesn’t have all paperwork completed and signed, it will not be accepted.
Do I need to make an initial payment on Returning Resident Day?
No. You will be able to make your initial payment at any time before the May. Returning residents who have not paid by May deadline will be cancelled and their Fall License Agreement will be void.
Can I drop my application and License Agreement in the housing office drop box?
Yes, but only after the process has begun., License Agreements left in the night drop box prior to Process Opening will not be honored. After the process has opened License Agreements left in the night drop box will be date stamped the following day. Any incomplete License Agreement will not be date stamped and will be returned to the applicant.
Can I pick my preferred roommate?
Yes you and your roommate should show up onReturning Resident Day together and turn in your paperwork together. You must select each other on the roommate selection form which will be included in your email. Mixed gender apartments should arrive together and turn in their forms together. All Apartment-mates must be present and complete apartment request.
Will I get a space for next year if I show up with my license on returning resident day?
We will receive significantly more license agreements than there are spaces available. However, many students will cancel during the summer, therefore we encourage resident to complete and turn in their Application and License Agreement, even if no spaces are available at the time.
Will I be able to pick up a specific room on returning resident day?
On March 12, the housing office will collect your license agreement. After May deadline, provided your initial payment has been received by the housing office, you will receive a confirmation of space reservation. You and your potential roommate’s specific room assignment will be emailed at the end of July.
When will my space be confirmed for Fall ?
Space confirmations will be emailed to all PAID returning residents after May deadline. The housing office will confirm returning residents on a first-come first served basis. If spaces are full, a Waitlist will begin for residents who have made a payment by May deadline. Residents on the paid waitlist will then be contacted as spaces open. Paid Waitlist status will be emailed weekly as of May. No student will be confirmed or placed on the waitlist without payment by May deadline.
I can’t decide if I want to return? Can I turn in my paperwork at any time?
Returning resident spaces will be confirmed first come first served. You must decide and make a payment by May deadline in order to maintain your returning resident priority. After May deadline no returning resident application will be accepted.
