Network Associates AntiVirus Products
Network Associates' VirusScan for PC desktops, Netshield for PC servers and Virex for Macintoshes, are commercial products that have been site licensed for distribution to the San Francisco State University campus community. Faculty, staff and students can install and use this software on University-owned computers and on their personal computers either on campus or at home. Versions are available for Macintosh, Windows 95/98/NT/2000, Unix (AIX, HP-UX, NCR, and Solaris) and NetWare.
NAI (Network Associates Inc.) antivirus products or components within a product may be branded as an NAI, Dr. Solomon, or McAfee product. All three brand names are owned by NAI and, starting with VirusScan v4.x and NetShield v4.x, do not indicate different products. Dr. Solomon's AVTK and Magic Bullet are products produced by Dr. Solomon before they were purchased by NAI and are not the same as the VirusScan products. Our shift to VirusScan and NetShield from Dr. Solomon's AVTK is a continuation of our license for Dr. Solomon's products. Unlike the AVTK, VirusScan and NetShield virus signatures can be updated to the most recent version over the Internet at any time. Virex continues to be released as a Dr. Solomon product.
By downloading or copying the software, you agree not to rent, sell, lease, assign or otherwise transfer the Software; reverse engineer, compile, make alterations to or otherwise modify the Software; or disclose or otherwise make available the Software, User Manuals, or copies thereof, to any third party.
