Office of Student Financial Aid
Mission
The Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) strives to support students throughout the financial aid process. OSFA has the overall responsibility of administering Federal or State financial aid and Scholarships awards at San Francisco State University. We determine the eligibility, awarding, and the conditions in which these awards may be disbursed.
OSFA communicates with our students via their SF State E-mail and SF State Gateway. To keep yourself up to date - Make sure to check both regularly.

2024-2025 Provisional Awards are POSTED!
Provisional awards (Preliminary) for the 2024-2025 school year (Fall 2024 & Spring 2025) for students who have successfully completed their 2024-2025 financial applications (FAFSA or CADAA)! Please check your Student Center to view what you have been awarded. For more information regarding how to view your financial aid awards, please feel free to check the link provided down below.

For students who has successfully completed these two steps:
- Filed a 2024-2025 financial aid application (FAFSA or CADAA)
- Listed SF State as their TOP school of choice (School code: 001154),
Great news! Your provisional financial aid awards for the 2024-2025 school year (Fall 2024 & Spring 2025) have been posted in your Student Center!
In the meanwhile, please refer to your To Do List for any possible financial aid related items in case your financial aid application has been selected for Verification (Further review). Our office will need to review and clear those items to ensure that you can be awarded your official offer on July 2024!
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Students must have completed their application by the May 2nd priority deadline in order to be considered for State financial aid.

On Wednesday - April 17, 2024, Federal Student Aid (FSA) will be hosting a webinar in Spanish regarding how to submit the 2024-2025 FAFSA. If you or your family members are interested in attending this session, please click on the link provided down below.
Financial aid will be available for students who are attending the Summer 2024 semester here at SF State! For more information regarding how this process works and what to expect, please click on the link provided right below.
For students who have been awarded official awards for the 2023-2024 school year (Fall 2023 & Spring 2024) here at SF State, our FIRST disbursement date for the Spring 2024 semester was on Wednesday - January 24, 2024. For more information regarding the disbursement process, please click on the link provided down below.
Financial aid applications for the next academic year are now OPEN! Depending on which application you qualify for, please do the following:
- Complete 2024-2025 financial aid application (FAFSA or CADAA)
- List SF State as your TOP school of choice (School Code: 001154)
If both steps are completed successfully, admitted students will be awarded financial aid for the 2024-2025 school year (Fall 2024, Spring 2025, & Summer 2025) here at SF State by the end of the Spring 2024 semester.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Applications must be completed between January 1, 2024 to May 2, 2024 in order to be considered for State financial aid!
