Students enrolled in any of the following Extended Learning Certificate Programs during the Fall and Spring semesters may be eligible for Financial Aid.

(No Financial aid for Winter session)

  • Holistic Health
  • Legal/Court Interpretation
  • Music Recording Industry
  • Paralegal Studies
  • Digital Media Production

To apply for Financial Aid the student must file the Free Application For Federal Student Aid through one of the following application methods:

  • 1) FAFSA on the web at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov

  • or 2) or a Paper FAFSA Application which is available at the Office of Student Financial Aid, One Stop Student Service Building (SS Bdlg, first floor), San Francisco State University, 1600 Holloway, San Francisco, CA 94132 or the Downtown Center, 425 Market Street, San Francisco, CA 94105 and submit by mailing it to the Federal processor.

In addition, the student must submit acceptance letter for the approved Certificate Program to Milly Mohr at the Office of Student Financial Aid (One Stop Student Services Center).

A few weeks after you file the FAFSA, the federal processor will send you a SAR which summarizes the information you provided on your FAFSA. Review the SAR carefully and if any information is incorrect, make the changes on the SAR and return it to the processor, as instructed. You will then receive a corrected SAR. Keep this corrected SAR for your records. You do not need to submit the SAR to the financial aid office at SFSU.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE SFSU FINANCIAL AID OFFICE

    Document Request Letter

SFSU receives your FAFSA information from the processor a few weeks after you file the FAFSA. If we need additional documents, you may be sent a document request letter to complete your financial aid file. Do not submit documents to our office unless requested to do so.

    Financial Aid Offer Letter

After we review your complete file, an Offer of Financial Aid Letter will be mailed to you. It will include the amounts and types of financial aid awarded to meet your educational expenses, disbursement dates, and information about your responsibilities as a financial aid recipient.

    Enrollment Requirements

Students in the Certificate Programs are required to enroll in and successfully complete a minimum of 6 units per semester. The units must be units required of his/her particular certificate program. The student must be prepared to pay his/her own registration fees if Financial aid eligibility has not been determined before the registration fees are due.
