Cooperative Education Program Goal
To facilitate academically-relevant work experiences that are mutually
beneficial for students, employers, and the university.
Student's Responsibilities
· Complete Co-op registration
procedures.
· Help establish work/learning objectives with the employer
and faculty advisor.
· Approach your work experience responsibly; set goals,
accomplish
tasks, be productive!
· Enroll for the appropriate number of units of Cooperative
Education Program course SCI/AU 693 (undergraduates) or SCI/AU 793
(Graduates).

· Complete required coursework
and submit a Student Evaluation Form
on time.
· Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 for undergraduates and 3.0 for
graduate students.
· Notify Co-op Program should any issues arise regarding your
Co-op placement.
Employer's Responsibilities
· Help establish work/learning objectives with the student and
faculty advisor.
· Placement of the student in challenging work environments,
where he/she can gain productive, academically-related experience.
· Provide a job description for the Co-op Office.
· Provide a signed offer letter, including placement dates,
and compensation to student.
· Require the student to be enrolled in the appropriate Co-op
Education course.
· Provide appropriate supervision within a structured
environment.
· Fill out our one page Employee
Evaluation Form upon internship completion.
· Notify Co-op Program should any issues arise regarding your
Co-op student.
Faculty Sponsor's Responsibilities
· Write letter to INS for international Students (template will
be provided by Coop Ed Program)
· Help establish work/learning objectives with the student and
employer.
· Monitor's student's progress by reviewing and providing
feedback
via emails and make sure student meets Learning Objectives..
· Grade student's final report (length
will be determined by how many units).
· Turn in graded student's final report and recommend a grade
of CR or NC to Coop Ed. by the last day of the final week.
· Notify Co-op Program should any issues arise regarding your
Co-op student.
Cooperative Education Program's
Responsibilities
· Pre-screen applicants to ensure employee qualifications are
met prior to interviewing.
· Provide career counseling and career development assistance.
· Monitor student course and placement performance.
· Conduct site visits/tours on an as needed basis.
· Facilitate Faculty Advisor's evaluation of student's
performance.
· Coordinate grade processing and to ensure units are
appropriately
recorded.
