The John Ungaretti Translation Award
The first prize award is $350 and the second prize award is $150.
Eligibility
Currently enrolled Classics majors, minors and graduate students at San Francisco State University are eligible to compete for awards in Greek and Latin translation.
Application
Copies of these passages, guidelines, and application are available in the Classics Department Office, HUM 377. Submit completed translations and applications to HUM 377.

The Society for Classical and Comparative Studies Travel Scholarship
Two Scholarships of $750 each to be awarded. The recipients will be selected by April 15. The Scholarships will be awarded by May 15 or September 15, 2006, depending on the date of the travel study program.
Eligibility
Classics or Comparative Literature majors or graduate students in good standing who will be continuing at SFSU or who will be participating in a university-approved overseas program and who will be attending such program before the award of their final degree at SFSU.
Application
Obtain an application and guidelines from HUM 377 or HUM 484. Applications and accompanying papers must be submitted to David Leitao, Chair, Department of Classics and Department of Comparative & World Literature, in HUM 377.

The Richard L. Trapp Undergraduate Scholarship
As a tribute to the civilizing and humanistic influence of Professor Richard L. Trapp, a scholarship of $1500 will be awarded. The recipient will be selected by May 15. The Scholarship will be awarded 1/2 Fall /1/2 Spring semesters.
Eligibility
Undergraduate student of outstanding merit majoring in Classics and/or Classical Archaeology and who will be continuing studies at San Francisco State University in the Fall semester subsequent to the application deadline.
Application
Obtain an application from the Classics Department Office, HUM 377. Completed applications, including personal statement and transcripts, must be submitted to David Leitao, Chair, Classics Department in HUM 377.

The Richard L. Trapp Graduate Teaching Fellowship
As a tribute to the civilizing and humanistic influence of Professor Richard L. Trapp, two Fellowships of $1500 each will be awarded. The recipient will be selected by May, 5, 2006. The Scholarship will be awarded 1/2 Fall /1/2 Spring semesters.
Eligibility
Graduate student of outstanding merit -- one in Latin and one in Ancient Greek majoring in Classics and/or Classical Archaeology and who will be continuing studies at San Francisco State University in the 2006-2007 academic year.
