MGMT 354: How to Start a Business for Non-Entrepreneurship Majors

Bulletin: The process of starting and managing a successful small business. Students participate in a team project which takes them through an actual startup.

 

MGMT 430: Introduction to Entrepreneurship, Part I

Bulletin: The entrepreneurial process and different kinds of entrepreneurial outcomes. Opportunity identification through analysis of industry niches.

Pre-requisite: upper division standing.

Strongly advise that this is not your first course in the Business School!

MGMT 431: Introduction to Entrepreneurship, Part II

Bulletin: Types of entrepreneurial entry strategies; factors influencing the selection of an appropriate strategy and the translation of that strategy into effective tactics.

Pre-requisite: MGMT 430

MGMT 432: The Entrepreneurial Approach to Resources

Bulletin: Skills needed to order to turn an opportunity into reality. Business plans, launch decisions, and obtaining risk capital.

Pre-requisite: MGMT 431

MGMT 433: Building the Venture

Bulletin: How entrepreneurs and owners of small businesses can keep their businesses alive and vital as they grow sales and expand to new markets.

Pre-requisite: MGMT 432

MGMT 435: International Entrepreneurship

Bulletin: Introduction to entrepreneurship in international contexts and its role in economic development. Will help students understand how entrepreneurs in different cultures and economic systems create, find and use resources to build growth oriented ventures.

Pre-requisite: none

 

MGMT 436: Family Business Dynamics

Bulletin: Examination of the special business challenges faced by family-owned businesses. Techniques to manage these complex issues within the context of entrepreneurship.

Pre-requisite: ENG 214 or equivalent

MGMT 437: Entrepreneurial Internship

Bulletin: Examination of how entrepreneurial principles play out in real world.

Pre-requisite: MGMT 432

Really: Students typically take this course at the same time they take MGMT433.

 

MGMT 535: Selected Topics in Entrepreneurship

Bulletin: Topic to be specified in Class Schedule. May be repeated for a total of six units when topics differ.

Pre-requisite: MGMT 430
