McGraw-Hill/Irwin Innovation in Entrepreneurship Pedagogy
The Entrepreneurship Concentration
in the College of Business at San Francisco State University (and Connie
Marie Gaglio, Co-Director of the Ohrenschall Center for Entrepreneurship)
was awarded the McGraw-Hill/Irwin Innovation in Entrepreneurship Pedagogy
Award by the Entrepreneurship Division of the Academy of Management.
The award
is given to recognize innovations that advance the understanding and teaching
of entrepreneurship at the college and university level. Particular consideration
is given to those innovations that can be transferred to other entrepreneurship
programs worldwide.
The award
committee reported that SFSU's program merited the award because of the:
- conceptual framework for the entrepreneurial
process that is used consistently across the courses and internships.
- level of input the Bay Area entrepreneurial
community had initially in the design of the curriculum and continues
to have in program assessment.
- variety of ways used to assess the
program's effectiveness.
- number of topic modules and materials
available to share with other entrepreneurship programs.
The award was given August 6, 2002 during
the Entrepreneurship Division's business meeting at the Academy of Management's
annual convention which met in Denver, Colorado.
