Description: The dynamic character of the ocean environment with emphasis on the properties of sea water, surface heat transfer, Cooriolis force, surface and deep ocean circulation, deep and shallow wave phenomena, and underwater sound and optics. Designed for both the physical scientist and marine biologist. Paired with METR 765. Students who have completed METR 765 may not take METR 465 for credit. Classwork, 2 units; laboratory, 1 unit. (Formerly GEOL 465.)
