WILL THE REGISTRAR’S OFFICE DIS-ENROLL NON-COMPLIANT EPT AND/OR ELM STUDENTS?
Yes.....We will dis-enroll non-compliant first-time Freshman during the second week of instruction. We place future registration holds for non-compliant transfer students.

DO ALL ESL STUDENTS WHO TAKE THE ESLPT HAVE TO TAKE THE EPT?
Yes....Although ESL students may not have to take regular remediation courses, the ESL Office does track for remediation compliance and place their students in the appropriate ESL courses.

HOW LONG DO STUDENTS HAVE TO FINISH THEIR REMEDIATION?
All remediation students (including ESL) have one year to complete their required courses.

Example: Fall 2000 admits have until the end of Spring 2001 to complete remediation. Those who take courses during the Summer 2001 (grace period) will not be able to register until they show us proof of completion with a "C" or better English 50 & 115 , a "C" or better in Eng 208 (ESL) and a "C-" or better in Math 70.

ARE WE GOING TO ALLOW NON-COMPLAINT REMEDIATION STUDENTS TO CONTINUE ON AFTER THE ALLOTTED ONE YEAR?
No.....We will not allow students to register for classes in the future if they do not complete the required remedial courses.

Example: Fall 1999 Admits have one year from the semester of admittance to complete remediation, which is until the end of the Spring 2000 semester. If they aren’t finished by the end of Spring 2000, we will place a registration hold on their file an d they must take their remedial courses during the Summer 2000 (grace period) and show proof of completion to the Registrar’s Office, (SS 101) before they can Touch-Tone register and/or attend classes for Fall 2000.

Note: These students can also attend another college in the Fall 2000 and return in Spring 2001 if they show proof of their remediation completion.

CAN REMEDIATION STUDENTS KEEP THEIR CONTINUING STUDENT STATUS UNTIL THEY FINISH THEIR REMEDIATION?
Students need to complete their remediation courses within one year of their admittance into SFSU. It they are not finished within the allotted time, they must attend our SFSU Summer Semester, another college or SFSU's College of Extended Learning/O pen University.

Note: All students who miss two semesters in a row will have to re-apply for admission to the University.

IF I TAKE A QUANTITATIVE REASONING OR A WRITTEN COMMUNICATION COURSE AT ANOTHER INSTITUTION WHILE ATTENDING SFSU, WILL THIS CLEAR REMEDIATION?
Yes. If you take a Quantitative Reasoning course at another institution and receive a "D-" or better (as a continuing student) this will clear math remediation status. For Written Communication, a grade of "C" or better will clear English remediation. You must submit an official transcript with the graded courses to have your remediation status cleared.
